Singapore, Singapore August 21, 2010. It was an easy beginning of the Youth Olympic Games for Peru beating the host nation Singapore in the opening match of the girls’ competition with 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-12) win, which saw Peru lead throughout the entire match, in front of a die-hard enthusiastic home crowd.
“There was a big difference in size, which is very difficult to defend,” Singapore coach Ho Peng Low said.
“This was only our first match,” Peru coach Natalia Malaga said. “We will get better from game to game as our young players gain experience.”

Peru’s fast setting near the net was one of the key points of the match. The great spikes by Raffaella Camet and Herrada Grecia could not be stopped by Singapore, but they tried to do their best returning to play every time with great enthusiasm.
Singapore was supported during the whole match by thousands of young fans cheering for their champions, which provided a wonderful business card for the host nation to show all over the world.
